KIGALI RACE WALKING COMPETITION

The first Race Walking competition in Rwanda

The African Confederation of Hiking and Well-being for All (CARP) organizes racewalk competitions across the continent in partnership with local walking and hiking clubs.

After Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal, CARP organized a Race Walking competition in partnership with local clubs such as Kigali Walking Club, Fidele Marche, A-Team, and others…

The competition will take place on 26th May 2024 at Kigali Economic Zone. It will be a free and public event, no registration required and winners will get prizes from CARP delegates

Racewalking is a long-distance athletic event where competitors must walk without running, adhering to specific rules regarding technique. Unlike running, racewalking requires one foot to be in contact with the ground at all times, and the leading leg must remain straight from the moment of first contact until it is in a vertical position. This distinctive gait sets racewalking apart from other forms of walking and running.

CARP delegates will brief racers about the rules, and running distance will range between 6-10km.

Walking clubs, hiking clubs and individuals are encouraged to participate.
